Massachusetts Maker of Fine Linens Now Making Sheets to Donate to Hospitals

In as fine example of corporate citizenship as you could imagine, Matouk is shifting its manufacturing focus from high-end items sold in Bloomingdales to sheets, towels and other items in demand at hospitals and healthcare facilities. And in this extraordinary letter from CEO George Matouk, the Fall River based company is making whatever the healthcare system needs and figuring out how to manufacture masks. Working with other manufacturers and state governments to get this done. Turns out Hanes – the underwear people – is doing something similar as reported by ABC News – making masks (and they have scale!).

Tito’s Vodka Changing Manufacturing Lines to Make Sanitizer Fluid

In a similar vein, popular Tito’s Vodka of Austin, Texas is taking advantage of new rules allowing spirit makers to produce sanitizer — and soon will be making Tito’s cleaning fluid to donate wherever it is needed.

French Luxury Goods Maker to Buy and Donate 40 Million Masks

LVMH is still at it. Innovating in ways they can help. As reported here in the Business of Fashion, which also offers links and summaries of helping efforts across the fashion industry globally – many companies stepping up – of all sizes. This is great stuff. Our editorial question – maybe you know the answer – is why aren’t the governments of France, the United States, etc. already buying all of these masks? Why is this relying on donations when it is a fundamental need? I don’t know the answer.
